Kingfisher Announces 1st Annual Oyster Festival

Tucson, ARIZ. – In what is sure to become a tradition coinciding with Homecoming Weekend at the University of Arizona, Kingfisher Bar & Grill, located at 2564 East Grant Road, invites seafood lovers to whet their appetite at the 1st Annual Oyster Festival on Saturday, October 23rd from 10am to 4pm.

The Oyster Festival will feature 12 to 15 varieties of oysters on the half shell from different regions, including Pacific, Pacific Northwest, Gulf, Mid and North Atlantic. There is no entrance fee; guests simply pay $1 per oyster. There will be beer, wine and water available outside under the tent for purchase.

“Some say oysters are good for what ails you,” said Co-owner and Executive Chef Jim Murphy. “Casanova reputedly ate 60 a day, and he did all right.”

Kingfisher will be open at 10am for lunch. Specials in the restaurant will include an oyster stew and several baked oyster specials. Kingfisher will also have an assortment of tasty beers and wines available inside.

Kingfisher offers happy hour Monday through Fridays in the bar from 4:30pm to 6:30pm and again from 10:00pm to midnight, featuring drink and appetizer specials.

Reservations are not necessary for the Oyster Festival. For more information, please call 520.323.7739 or visit
